International Summer Course

Where are the Europeans? Is the EU more than Brexit and debt crisis?

04.08.2019 – 11.08.2019

The EU seems to be crumbling apart; Brexit, Euro crisis, populism, reintroduced border controls and much more. Is the EU an outdated model? What else does it stand for? Is a strong nation state once again the measure of all things?

We look at the history of the EU, current events and possible future developments of the EU. What added value does the EU offer us personally? And what makes our German-Danish border region a special place in Europe? In order to find answers to these questions, we visit minority organisations in the border region, travel to the state capital Kiel and also take a look at our own identity.

We want to discuss with each other, listen to lectures by experts, spend leisure time together, eat and sleep under one roof. The course languages are German, Danish and English. The German-Danish summer course is aimed at young adults between the ages of 18 and 26.

With the support of the State Commissioner for Political Education in Schleswig-Holstein and the Lions Club Südtondern.
